the project:

House of strange rituals was one of 19 artists asked to participate in beam 2020, a light based outdoor art event in Eugene, Oregon.

‘beat’ is an homage to the sensory world, featuring interactive multilayered glass illustrations of a human heart, inspired by early scientific technique. as a Participant steps onto the pad in front of the piece, the window panels align to create one unified image while also triggering the sound of a human heartbeat which is synched to pulsing lights around each individual pane of glass, creating a full sensory experience for the viewer.

the team:

House of Strange Rituals is an all Female led arts collective. this project consisted of one sound design and technology artist, one build artist and one visual artist.

my contribution:

as the visual artist on this project, i designed and created the image of the human heart for the piece. I painted the back panel and etched and inked the other 3 panels of glass to create one unified image. this design included accounting for THE SIZE change of each image BASED ON THE change OF perspective BASED ON DISTANCE AND the distortion of glass.
